J. Michael Greene

Mr. Greene has practiced in Americus since 1987.  He limits his practice to Bankruptcy, Elder Law, Probate, Social Security and Wills & Estates.   He is also the Municipal Court Judge for the City of Americus, a position he has held since 2000.     

 

Mr. Greene is a native of the Americus area having grown up in Preston and Americus.  His family has lived in Sumter County since the 1830s.  He attended Georgia Southwestern State University graduating in 1979 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration.  After Georgia Southwestern State University, he  attended the University of Georgia's Henry W. Grady School of Journalism where he earned a Master's Degree in Journalism.  He then attended law school at Georgia State University where he earned his Jurist Doctorate (or law degree) in 1986.  

     

Mr. Greene is an Eagle Scout (1974) as are both of his sons.    He is active in the Boy Scouts of America serving on the South Georgia Council Executive Board.  Additionally, he serves on a variety of other Boards including the Board of Trustees of the GSW Foundation. He has been married to Kathy Phillips Greene of Atlanta since 1981.  Together they have two sons.  The family attends Central Baptist Church where he is an ordained deacon.

Emory M. Greene

Emory M. Greene was born and raised in Americus, Georgia.  After Graduating from Southland Academy in 2009, Emory earned a B.B.A. from Georgia Southwestern State University in 2013.

 

Emory graduated from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in 2016, earning a J.D. While at Mercer, Emory was a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society. During the summers, Emory interned for the Southwestern Judicial Circuit, Office of the Public Defender.

 

After passing the bar exam in 2016, Emory, and his wife Elizabeth, returned to Americus to join Greene and Greene, Attorneys at Law, PC. Since joining Greene & Greene, Emory’s areas of practice focus on Bankruptcy, Elder Law and Estate Planning, and Criminal Defense (DUI).

 

Emory has successfully completed the Nation Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) DWI Detection & Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) Course, the NHTSA Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement Course, and the NHTSA DWI Detection and SFST Instructor Development Course.
